Description
The Seabee Memorial Chapel offers spiritual, moral and ethical maturity support to all military members, retirees and their families The main sanctuary is supported by 11 concrete columns, which form a semi-circle, joined together at a nave, 40 feet high and holds a stain-glass window.
The chapel was constructed with over 150 tons of concrete and steel.
The chapel was first opened Dec. 22, 1974.
Adjacent to the chapel is the Dobler Memorial Garden. It is dedicated to the memory of Captain Thomas J. Mitchell, CEC, USN, former Commander, 30th NCR, Commander Leland J. Dobler, CEC, USN, former Commanding Officer, NMCB 133, and LT Charles Jefferies, CEC, USN. They were killed in the line of duty by unknown assailants at Subic Bay, Republic of the Philippines, April 13, 1974.
