Description

As featured in Good Grit Magazine and The Fourth Ward Cleaver, Pye's Eco Beach House in the Trees was completed in 2015 by a major network TV show. After a devastating loss in Hurricane Katrina (2005), Pye's dream of rebuilding on her land finally came true in the shape of a 24'X24' cube! Inspired by modern beach designs and the desire to embrace (literally) the tree that survived the storm, Architect Bruce Lanier designed a dwelling that not only withstands 160mph winds but is surrounded by windows allowing the world outside to fill the space within. Southern orientation keep the home cool in summer and warm in winter while 96" fans and a mini split unit keep the air inside circulating. 12'-20' ceilings allow for an increase in volume keeping the home open and airy. With space underneath the home for dining and entertaining, this 600 sq ft home almost doubles in usable space. With almost an acre of native landscapes including longleaf pines and a "cocktail garden" with herbs for guests, nature presents a steady stream of photo opps right off the back deck. The sandy gulf coast is 2 blocks south. Much more "bay-like:, it is a perfect place for fishing, bird watching, kayaking, and walking.
